About The Blog

The originial inspiration for this blog came from my frustration over the potential loss of a colleague due to budget cuts in our school district.  I became very frustrated with the bureaucracy behind our education system and other aspects of life as well (our food system, medical system and our dependency on fossil fuels are other issues that are close to my heart).

Through this blog, I am attempting to challenge the system.  There are alternative ways to live that don't require one to go off the grid, join a commune, home school the kids, or generally crawl under a hole and pretend it's not happening (although all but the last are certainly options).  Hence, the theme of this blog. I hope you too will become inspired to live more simply in this complicated world.

By the way, the title (and there are other blogs out there with the same name, so I lose creativity points right off the bat) are words from a popular hymn written by Cecil Frances Alexander (1818-1895).  However, I first came across the phrase by reading  the James Herriot series recounting his adventures in veterinary medicine in Post War England.
